Dropping Science

Over the weekend I got really into reading Seed Magazine. The articles are really well written and comprehensible enough that people who don’t have a MacArthur Grant can still understand the science. On top of that the design of the magazine is great, especially the information design that is used to explain complex ideas. Just download the monthly Crib Sheets, they’ll come in handy at dinner parties.

The magazine got me really excited about DNA, so I thought I’d share a few interesting things I found. First of all, our DNA is incredibly inefficient, especially when compared to the Fugu. I also discovered that it is possible for someone to have the DNA of two different people. Lastly, DNA can actually be engineered to do a lot of different stuff, and the people who can do that are wizards.
