Bike Love
June 24, 2008 • 9:01 am • POSTED BY Adam FlanaganAll of us at 160over90 have a lot of love for cycling. Many of us use it as a way to commute to work. Some of us see it as a major sport in their life. The majority of us have worked for clients that involve cycling in one way or another, such as the Cadence Kona Challenge, or the city of Boston.
One of the concepts we proposed for the city of Boston is a cycling center. It would be a place where people who share a love for cycling can go to meet. They can repair their bikes, take cycling classes, look for new bikes, take a pedi-cab, or even rent a bike through a bike-share program. Bike-share programs have become incredibly popular over the last few years, especially with the rising costs of oil. We’ve done a lot of research on them, and even attended forums for bike-share programs in our own city.
Some of the most attractive bikes and bike-share programs are in Dutch cities, for example, look at Bikedispenser, a rental station that was recently featured in I.D. Magazine’s 54th Annual Design Review. A station like this would be perfect for Boston, especially with their inclement weather.
