Converse All Stars: Fresh for 100 Years

Converse commissioned Pharrell, Santogold, and Julian Casablancas to produce a track, “My Drive Thru,” to celebrate their 100th Anniversary. What makes this track so good is the fact that it doesn’t sound like a song made specifically for a shoe brand. It doesn’t say anything about the iconic chucks, even though it would have been too easy to drop the brand name in the lyrics here and there. Converse made a smart move and just let the artists do their thing, and showed their support. Check out the awesome video made by Psyop.

Check out an interview with Pharrell about Converse after the jump.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the song, but the idea of brand-sponsored one-off songs is a strong one. I was surprised to find out that the whole video is CG, not hand-made.

But I liked the concept a little better when Asif Mian did it for Aesop Rock, by hand: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7340323108817178417

Did you see the other part of this campaign? Obviously, Adam(s) you need no help in this department, but there is a video of how to get a girl who is completely out of your league.
