Those awkward looking people cutouts in architectural renderings?
July 16, 2008 • 8:52 pm • POSTED BY Jim WallsAccording to our designer Kelly Dorsey, those awkwardly placed people you see in architectural renderings are known in the industry as “goons.” I can find nothing on Google to back her claim up, so there’s a good chance she’s full of it. Can any architects confirm? If it turns out that she’s making this up, I propose that we go ahead with the term anyway. It’s perfect.
The site for the New Yankee Stadium has some tride-and-true goons (dudes in suits pointing at things) paired up with some custom Yank fan goons (all of whom appear to be rabid Derek Jeter fans).
Couldn’t they have slipped a George Costanza goon or two in there? Or maybe Bald Vinny from the Yankee Stadium Bleacher Creatures, who in my opinion have one of the most awesome traditions in the history of sports, finishing a close second behind the Mayans who decapitated each other after losing Volleyball matches.
