Free and Easy Magazine

Every so often, this Japanese men’s magazine, Free & Easy, seems to pop up in my inspiration research. I still can’t get the full story on it, but it’s like 30% archive, 30% style guide, 30% catalog and 100% awesome. It’s sort of an homage to classic American men’s style, cataloging everything from pea coats to class rings to canvas bags and even dog breeds (see the image of the Bernese Mountain Dog in the full post).

All of these items totally give me a broner (or is it broner-envy since I am a girl?). Too bad they actually aren’t for sale. However, Free & Easy does have store in Tokyo called The Rugged Museum where one can purchase remakes of these classic looks along w/ collaborations w/ other vintage loving designers. So the next time I’m in Japan, I’ll for sure stop in and pick up a few things for my sweetie. Ok, in reality, the next time I’m in NYC, I’ll stop by the Japanese bookstore and buy the latest issue. In the meantime, if anyone has more info on this publication- please pass it along

I wish I knew how to buy it. The website is mostly in Japanese, which I don’t speak. I’ve looked for it in Japanese magazines in NYC, but have had no luck. If I get anymore info, I’ll post it here.

Where can I get the Japanese magazine in the US, like in other cities aside from NYC? Because I live in Houston, TX.

I heard about this menswear magazine and the features are amazing! If you get any more, please put up more pictures of the magazine pages. Great layout and magazine, indeed!

Thanks for the post and information!

I just picked one up in Yokohama, JP. As far as subscribing, I’ll have to get my girlfriend to translate it for me and let you know if you’re interested.

you can buy it through yahoo.jp but you may have to use a proxy. or, anybody in the states who wishes to get the most recent issues can email me and I can mail them out to you from NYC. there is a book store that sells them (and a similar magazine called Lightening) for $15 and I can ship them out to you. total cost through paypal would be $20 for one magazine and $37 for two. They also have a few back issues at the store.

anyone interested can email me at: claimgoods at gmail dot com
