The Best of 2008: Blogs

For the next month I’ll be sharing some of my favorites that made this year so grrrrrrrrrrrr8. Today I’m talking blogs. We love them. We read them. You’re reading one now. Here are some of the best this year.

Note: For the intellectual sort of blog reading look to Shepelavy.

Top 10 after the jump…

10. Soundtrack to the End of the World™
Up until November 4th it really seemed like the world could end. Here’s what a large list of contributors would listen to if Obama hadn’t won.

9. Subtraction
A nice blog about design, the internet, and technology by the Khoi Vinh, the design director of NYTimes.com, someone who should know a thing or two about the aforementioned topics.

8. Sorry I Missed Your Party
Something a little more lighthearted and humorous.

7. The Imagist
Your spot for the latest trends in design, fashion, Art, and male models.

6. Dish & Bitch
Some friends in this building take out their friends to brunch and get raunchy while rating mimosas, bloody Marys, waffles, pancakes, and omelets. Then they play fuck, make sweet love to only once, chuck, marry.

5. Pentagram
I just follow it because I know one day they will have a project on there that sucks, and it’ll be like walking into the bathroom at a dive bar seeing a unicorn standing at the urinal smoking a cigar. A surprise and also a disappointment.

4. A Continuous Lean
Because my grandfather living in Iowa is big in Japan, and this blog knows it.

3. Style Rookie
We really should look at the young people of today to really see where uncontrollable imagination breathes.

My top two blogs are here because they are a trough of inspiration that say so much by saying so little.

2. Impossible Cool
I’m  just going to use a quote from the blog, “A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care, and then forgotten all about them.” –Saville Row tailor Hardy Amies.

1. Hedi Slimane Diary
Days, weeks, months, and years worth of inspiration in the simplest blog filled with black and white photos.
