Amazing Maize Maze Maze Maaaaaaaze

If you remember one of my posts a few months ago about South of the Border, it seems to be my thing, to visit little tourist traps. But the most recent one, The Amazing Maize Maze was not my idea. So there. But it was so much fun. Way more fun than I would have expected a corn maze to be, and I kind of want to go back just to beat my completion time. Mainly because I really messed it up this first time. See, before ever entering the maze each team gets a map, which you build along the way as you find a new map piece. There is also a presentation prior to starting the maze, which I did not pay a lick of attention to because Tony, the “tour guide,” was just so cheeseriffic that I could not suppress my chuckles. Thus, I completely missed his entire speech. All I knew was that the maze was in the shape of PA and that you had to go around to seven different regions of the state, find two map pieces, and two Kernel’s of Knowledge. My teammate kept calling the Kernel’s of Knowledge, Corn Cob Clues. So, of course, I figured that’s really what they were called. Around hour two of scouring every inch of this maze, my teammate and I finally decided we just needed to get out of there. We found a kid who worked there and asked him to lead us to Scranton, the toughest place to find in the whole maze. He probably thought we were idiots because 1) it had taken us so long to find our way out and 2) I asked him where our two remaining “Corn Cob Clues” were. In return, he looked at me like, “What the F are you talking about?” Anyway, we eventually made it out alive only to be beaten by my friend’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law.
Anyway, if you want something fun to do in the outdoors and want to learn a little bit of Pennsylvania history at the same time, I recommend going to the Amazing Maize Maze Maze Maze Maze Maze Maze Maze in Lancaster, PA. There is a also huge slide which is really fun and some sort of sling shot thing. And free samples of fudge and Kettle Corn (lots of free samples of Kettle Corn). If it’s free, it’s for me…that’s what I say. I scanned in our souvenir of the map and the little crossword (the answers were in the Corn Cob Clues).

Map of the maze. Now I clearly see that it tells you where to go. But, at the time I just thought, “Whoa, that’s a lot of janky lines. Yuck.”

Much simplier than the lunchtime crosswords at the Boomerang Table.

This map shows all the fun you can have at the maze! Yay!

Carved out of the field of corn is “VISITPA.COM.”

Just a photo of the farm.
